Architectural / Facilities Plan Reviewer

A Pittsburgh education institution is seeking an Architectural / Facilities Plan Reviewer.

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for documenting, updating, packaging and distributing facility design standards to outside design consultants;
  • Reviewing all construction documents prepared by outside consultants for compliance with institution’s standards;
  • Developing and maintaining a construction document archive system
  • Preparing design documents for miscellaneous architectural projects such as classroom renovation, flooring, cycle painting, and roofing.
  • Reads and reviews technical construction drawings across multiple disciplines such as architectural, plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, and Environmental for District maintenance and capital projects.
  • Reads and reviews technical construction specifications for all disciplines.
  • Applies understanding of building systems and current construction principles to projects.
  • Reviews drawings from a constructability point of view.
  • Insures that the most current building products are included in construction.
  • Provides research of products online.
  • Communicates with design consultants from multiple disciplines.
  • Provides and reviews estimations for cost of construction.
  • Provides design and package small miscellaneous construction projects using electronic media such as AutoCAD, Windows, etc.
  • Utilizes effective project management software programs such as e-Builder.
  • Visits individual work sites and develop a scope of remediation/renovation work.
  • This position reports to the Chief of Design and Planning

Qualifications: 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering or Construction Management along with several years of experience in construction and/or facilities / project management, with exposure to the education / institutional sector.
  • Must have experience producing technical construction specifications.
  • Experience in producing AutoCAD version14 or later drawings.
  • Knowledge of small and large scale disaster restoration practices.
  • Familiarity with building code requirements
  • Good documentation skills, both in written and electronic form.
  • Strong computer skills, especially maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
  • Must have excellent organizational ability and workflow in order to perform work within defined specifications and timelines and to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Must maintain valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania driver’s license and must maintain dependable vehicle including appropriate proof of automobile insurance.
  • Must obtain State Criminal History Report, Federal Criminal History Report and Child Abuse Clearance prior to starting employment.
