A specialty construction company, located south of Pittsburgh, is seeking an Instrumentation Engineer.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall support of our nationwide projects, making sure our customers' expectations are met or exceeded.
  • This includes the preparation, installation, programming, and repair of instrumentation, training of onsite personnel, and remote technical support.
  • Travel to jobsites across the US for installation and troubleshooting of instrumentation
  • Run calibration tests of pressure transducers, flow meters, and other field instruments
  • Replace defective instruments on heavy equipment, using hand tools
  • Consult with, advise, and train equipment operators
  • Complete daily reports of activities
  • When not traveling, the individual will be responsible for equipment repair, calibration, and testing at our Bridgeville, PA location.
  • Experience working with PLCs is a must as well as experience working with instrumentation sensors such as transducers, electromagnetic flow meters, and inclinometers.
  • The successful candidate will spend one year shadowing the Lead Instrumentation Engineer after which the position will evolve into a supervisory role.
  • The candidate should expect 60% travel which will reduce to 20% after the first year.

 

Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (related field) along with 5 years of experience specifically in instrumentation and controls. Construction industry experience is preferred.
  • Must have experience working with instrumentation sensors such as transducers, flow meters, encoders, and level sensors on a deep level
  • Working with low and medium voltage equipment
  • Servicing electronic equipment in the field
  • Clear understanding of raw instrumentation signals
  • Able to read and understand wiring schematics
  • Able to absorb and retain new information and techniques on a regular basis
  • Process oriented individual with strong technical skills and interpersonal team skills
  • MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Able to carry up to 40lbs
  • Able to work in all types of weather
  • Must be open to 60% travel (which will reduce to 20% after the first year.)
