Job Description

An established company located near East Liverpool, OH, is seeking a Reliability Inspector.

Responsibilities:

  • Will support the implementation of programs as needed to improve the overall reliability of the facility by utilizing up-to-date inspection techniques and other reliability technologies to predict and prevent failures before occurrence by recommending repairs or replacement of applicable equipment.
  • Will provide technical support to the Reliability Engineer and act as a back-up as necessary.
  • Develops, implements and maintains inspection plans, for on-line and out-of-service non-destructive examination (NDE) / inspection of piping, tanks and equipment to predict and prevent equipment failures, based on equipment history, known or suspect damage mechanisms, and compliance requirements.
  • Performs integrity assessments of plant equipment and piping to evaluate inspection results and NDE data to determine continuance of equipment fitness-for-service (FFS).
  • Initiate repair, replacement, re-rate, or further assessment of equipment not meeting code requirements of the initial FFS evaluation.
  • Recommends and provides technical support for repairs, replacement or alteration of piping, tank components and equipment which includes the review and approval of repair plans and weld procedures for work performed by outside contractors.
  • Develops major repair/ replace work scopes for plant equipment and follows work to verify that the repairs are meeting the requirements of the repair plan.
  • Tracks timing of and consolidates inspection requirements for the next scheduled outage for equipment in the assigned areas of responsibility in order to meet all regulatory and follow-up requirements.
  • Periodically reports on the status of plant equipment, in the assigned areas of responsibility, to support collection of facility key performance indicators (KPIs) and other business information.
  • Recommends equipment and components that are nearing the end of its useful life, not economically feasible to repair, and initiates a budget request for replacement in the future.
  • Identifies any preventative tasks that would prevent development of future mechanical integrity issues to plant equipment.
  • Helps to develop, implement, and maintain quality control programs to ensure that repairs and new construction of piping, tanks, vessels and equipment are performed in accordance with all applicable codes, standards and procedures.
  • Participates in Damage Mechanism Reviews of plant processes and equipment.
  • Contracts and coordinates efforts of engineering and inspection firms as needed to fulfill inspection data acquisition, analysis, metallurgical consulting, FFS Failure Analysis and other technical / labor support needs.
  • Reviews and documents all pre-service testing of new piping and equipment as necessary to meet all applicable codes, standards and procedures.
  • Utilizes consistent formats for inspection and repair reports and verifies that all inspection and maintenance work is properly documented in plant equipment and inspection files / folders, as well as the facility mechanical integrity software.
  • Coordinates with operations, maintenance and the environmental group as to timing of required equipment inspections, including seal gap measurements, and implements the inspections.
  • Communicates the results of inspections and assessments to all affected parties within the facility.
  • Participates in all aspects of miscellaneous project engineering as necessary to meet the needs of the Engineering Department.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical or Corrosion) and a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience required
  • Experience with non-destructive inspection techniques, API and ASME fabrication and inspection codes, welding, and basic metallurgy required
  • Must have or be able to obtain certification as an API-510 and API-570 Inspector
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and P&ID’s
  • Computer competency and experience with Microsoft Office products required
  • Must be self-motivated with strong leadership, communication and organizational skills

Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm or 8:00am-4:30pm
