Job Description
An established engineering and manufacturing company, located east of Pittsburgh, PA, is seeking a Mechanical Assembler.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the assembly of small sub-assemblies to complex mechanical systems involving many parts and components
- Assemble and test complex mechanical systems involving a large number of parts; alignment and precision tolerance of parts is critical
- Evaluate the alignments of axes in relation to each other: verify the orthogonality and angular displacement measurements through use of autocollimators, mirror assemblies, electronic indicators, or alignment telescopes
- Fit and size parts using lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and other tools
- Clean and prepare parts for paint
- Assist in the packing and shipping of equipment to customers
- Assist Quality Control in the calibration and maintenance of the Metrology lab
- Provide feedback to Engineering Department to reduce production problems
- Perform field service functions on equipment, both domestically and internationally
- Maintain orderly work area, machines, and equipment
- Meet budget and schedule requirements
- Perform other technical work and/or special projects as directed
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- HS Diploma and/or AS Degree in a Technical field or Machining Apprenticeship
- 1-3 years of mechanical experience required
- Able to follow complex assembly procedures and acceptance test procedures
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
- Ability to make precise measurements using metrology equipment
- Ability to apply safety procedures/methodology to all aspects of assembly work
- Able to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
- Ability to work with others: assembly personnel, engineers, wire shop personnel and customers on complex systems
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy
- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Required to attend forklift training and obtain certification
- Ability to travel up to 10% domestically; occasional international travel may be necessary
Hours: Monday-Friday, 1st shift (9/80 work schedule, off every other Friday); typical start times are between 6 and 7am
