Job Description
An established engineering and manufacturing firm, located just north of Pittsburgh, PA, is seeking a Mechanical Designer/Engineer.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and complete 3D model and drawing development for the manufacture of specialty high temperature equipment in industrial processes in an efficient manner conforming to project requirements and evaluating designs using calculations, analyses and engineering judgement.
- Develop and check drawing sets including:
- General Arrangements
- Foundation layouts
- Piping and instrumentation diagrams
- Field erection details
- Fabrication details
- Weld Maps / Quality Control
- Use various codes to assist in design analysis of equipment including:
- ASME Section I and Section VIII, Div. 1
- ASME B31.3
- Uniform Building Code and application to other structural codes
- TEMA standards
- AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code
- Support Project Execution activities, including:
- Participating in internal job kick-off (turnover) meetings
- Acting as part of the 4–5-person contract-specific project team, design/drafting support to the Project Manager
- Attending design / project review meetings
- Assisting in developing solutions for customer / supplier / internal problems that may affect design, schedule and budget
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
- Minimum of 2 years of related mechanical design and/or engineering experience
- Any knowledge of pressure vessels or heat transfer equipment highly desired
- Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel
- Must possess the ability to deal with customers and fabricators/suppliers in technical and business decision making processes
- Ability to coordinate effectively the project team including Process, Mechanical, Structural and Quality Control
- Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills
- Adaptability, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
- Willingness and ability to travel periodically (up to 10%), both domestic and international
